Syllabus:

This unit will not be available until 2007. Contracts - the entire semester is directed to a detailed study of General Conditions of Contract documents for Civil Engineering Works particularly AS 2124. Lectures will be supplemented by court case studiespresented by students. Quality - fundamentals and vocabulary of quality management. Systems of quality management. Management responsibility - commitment, focus, policy, planning, authority, communication and review. Resource management - people, infrastructure, environment, the costs of quality, information, suppliers, natural and financial. Product realisation - planning, customers, design, procurement, control of processes, production, construction, commissioning and handover, control of measuring and monitoring devices. Measuring, monitoring and improvement - systems, processes, products, nonconformity, corrective and preventive actions.
