Dimensions and consequences of globalisation, transformations in capital and labour, dominance of the market, diminishing role of the nation state, threat to welfarism and the role and impact of international organisations in the national social agenda. Changes in corporate governance and civil society in the Asia-Pacific, implications of structural adjustment policies and international constraints in the national economy, the effect of economic policies in cultural and social fabric, ethnic polarisationand political instability, religious revival and fundamentalism, civil alliances and people movements.
