Resonant optical cavities, transverse and longitudinal mode structure, cavity gain, loss processes, resonators, cavity Q and intracavity elements, the density operator and laser line widths, spectroscopy of solid state laser materials, R-S coupling and selection rules in crystalline fields, rotation groups and crystal point groups and optical detection of coherent beams.
