Six weeks of fieldwork in the South Pacific or Southeast Asia. Application of field research techniques. Formal and informal surveys. Ethnographic techniques. Participatory and rapid rural appraisal. Social and environmental impact assessments. The role of community organisations. Ethics in field research. Global influences and the micro level.
