Introduction

Designed for those students seeking an understanding of finance and who may want to progress into a Professional Finance Masters program. Students successfully completing the Graduate Certificate with an above average academic performance may compete forplaces in the Graduate Diploma in Finance. This course provides students with a basic understanding of the principles of finance with an overview of the operations of the financial markets and the financial instruments that are traded within these markets. Introduces students to the concepts of equity, corporate debt, foreign exchange markets, derivatives and interest rate determinants. The knowledge acquired will create an understanding of topical events, underlying economic trends and the interpretation of financial statements.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

Either an undergraduate degree from a recognised tertiary institution in a field of study other than finance, or for students without a prior degree significant relevant work experience (typically 3 to 5 years).

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

The Graduate Certificate in Finance is one semester full-time or equivalent part-time study.
