Introduction

Each student's program in the Japanese Language Stream is planned in consultation with staff members.

Special Note

Students without TEE Japanese beginning a study of the language must complete the units Japanese 111, 112, 211, 212, 311, 312, 321 and 322. This results in a proficiency in Japanese language approaching Level Two of the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters. Students entering the course with TEE Japanese must complete the units Japanese 211, 212, 311, 312, 321, 322, and either 331 and 332 or 341 and 342. Completion of Japanese 322 results in a proficiency in Japanese languageapproaching Level Two of the National Accreditation authority of Translators and Interpreters, and a vocabulary of Chinese characters equal to the minimum requirements of a graduate from a Japanese secondary school.
