132410 v.5 Bachelor of Science (Chemistry), Bachelor of Science (Computer Science)

BSc(Curtin), BSc(Curtin)

Course CRICOS Code: 043260B
Registered full-time Duration for International Onshore Students on student visas: 4 Years

Introduction

This double degree program provides graduates with a solid background in the principles and practices of computer science and chemistry. The combination of the two degrees prepares students for a range of employment opportunities that require computing and technological skills combined with a sound knowledge of chemical sciences.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

TEE applicable Mathematics and Chemistry. TEE Physics desirable.

Specific Requirements

The STAT is not acceptable for entry to this course.

Note

In certain cases, the need to complete special units may result in an extension of studies beyond the normal length of the course. Students will normally be expected to have attained a higher Tertiary Entrance Rank than is required for both single degrees.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

The course is four years full-time or equivalent part-time study. Two intakes are offered each year in March and August. Prospective students should note that places may not always be available for the August intake.

Course Organisation

Students enrolled in the double degree program may elect to transfer to the single degree course in one of the two disciplines. In this event, the relevant Head of Department shall determine the amount of credit to be transferred to the single degree. The structure of Engineering, Science and Computing owned double degrees is such that students have the option of completing the component Engineering, Science or Computing degree in the minimum time, provided they elect to change from the double degree within the first two semesters of the course.

Professional Recognition

Graduates from this program meet the requirements for professional level accreditation of the Australian Computer Society. The Royal Australian Chemical Institute recognises the course as fulfilling the academic requirements for graduate membership. On obtaining the necessary experience, graduates will be admitted to membership of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials.
