Syllabus:

Introduction to building services - principles, systems, space implications and regulations related to water supply, waste disposal, internal air quality, ventilation for smoke control and mechanical air conditioning. Methods of security surveillance andmonitoring - overview of electrical requirements, lightning protection, and mechanical equipment for vertical and horizontal transportation.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Demonstrated an understanding of principles, systems, space implications and regulations related to water supply and waste disposal. An understanding of principles, systems, space implications and regulations related to internal air quality, ventilation for smoke control and mechanical air conditioning. An overview of the basic electrical requirements in a building. An overview of the basic functions of mechanical equipment for vertical and horizontal transportation.
