Syllabus:

Association and causation, incidence, prevalence, morbidity and mortality rates, risk factors, sources of bias, survey methods and sampling techniques, data collection and compiling data bases. Sequential methods. Statistical assessment of data. Statistical packages on the VAX/VMS and software packages for microcomputers. Case studies relevant to medical laboratory science. Ethics in research and scientific fraud. Guide to scientific writing and presentation. Research grant applications.
