Interactions between teacher, learner and environment. Teacher and communicator. Interpersonal skills and strategies. Classroom management strategies. Classroom observation systems. Analysing and reflecting on own teaching and the teaching of others. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Demonstrated an understanding of contemporary ideas and theories of teaching and learning processes and practices. The ability to explain what it means to be an effective secondary school teacher. An understanding of how the interactions between the teacher, learner and environment affect learning. Selected and used the appropriate teaching, learning and assessment strategies to foster learning outcomes for secondary school students. Selected, used and adapted appropriate interpersonal skills and strategies in a range of educational settings. Conducted structured observations of teaching and learning situations. Analysed and reflected on their own teaching and the teaching of others as the basis for improvement as a secondary school teacher. Demonstrated positive attitudes and values regarding teaching, learning and assessment processes. |
