Syllabus:

Selection of an area of study with appropriate supervision. Examination of the relevant literature. Setting up of a suitable analytical framework and research methodology including field survey, questionnaires, and computer analysis where relevant. Presentation of a research proposal in seminar structure and in written form. Commencement of survey and analysis.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit, students will have extended the consideration of the types of data available from statistical to non-statistical sources, and considered the appropriateness of qualitative research methods. Considered the problem ofdesign of a total research programme and of its implementation, and related this to a choice of a Planning Dissertation/Report topic. Found and evaluated information sources and produced a critical review of literature appropriate to the chosen Dissertation/Report topic.
