Syllabus:

Provisions of contemporary information about issues related to death and dying. Development of effective nursing practice strategies in this scope of practice.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit students will be able to - Demonstrate appropriate skills in communicating sensitively with others on topics of death, dying and grief. Critically analyse contemporary literature related to the nature and effect of grief on both the dying and the living. Critically analyse the social context within which death, dying and grief may be experienced and the extent to which socio-cultural influences the experience. Evaluate supportive and therapeutic interventions used inthe care of the dying and the bereaved.
