Other Requisite(s):

Completion of second year of course: especially in BCom (HRM/IR) or equivlalent.

Syllabus:

Introduction to the basic concepts of Human Resource Management Systems and the application of technology to Human Resource Management. Aspects relating to Human Resource Management and technology, the selection, introduction and usage and the impact of technology on Human Resource practices and the 'future' of Human Resources.
 

Unit Outcomes:

To provide students with a basic understanding of Human Resource Management Systems and the use of technology in the Human Resource field and its impact on the organisation - An ability to take a role in the selection and implementation technology to apply to Human Resource practices. Recognition of the capabilities of Human Resource Management Systems and Human Resource related technology. Knowledge of new developments in technology relating to Human Resource Management Systems. Ability to keep up with technological developments relating to the Human Resource area.

Participants should use journal articles as a major source of information. Other sources of information are available, however, these may prove difficult to obtain. Students wishing to obtain articles through inter-library loans should contact the lecturer. Some journal articles may be provided in the closed reserve.
