Syllabus:

Evaluation methodologies for health information management services. Application of health information management theory into a policy and procedure manual. Health informatics and e health, health care networks, technical infrastructure, clinical information systems, strategic planning for electronic health information systems.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit students will be able to - Demonstrate an awareness of current developments in health information management and a thorough knowledge of current quality improvement methodologies through the design of a policy and procedure manual. Demonstrate an awareness of the technical infrastructure and system requirements that are required to support health informatics. Identify key areas for strategic planning in health informatics and for developing a business case. Appreciate and understand the ethical and legal issues involved in health informatics. Demonstrate an ability to analyse and interpret data.
