Syllabus:

Mining tenements - exploratory titles and mining titles. Exclusivity. Mining on public and private land. "Initial requirement" - lodgement and marking out. Moratorium. Grant of prospecting and miscellaneous licences. Grant of other mining tenements. Ministerial public policy powers. Curative provisions. Priority conversion. Priorities. Termination. Native Title.
 

Unit Outcomes:

Students should be able to: 1. Understand the history of Mining 2. Become competent in using the legislation and regulations together 3. Understand the nature of the role of registrars and wardens and the role of the minister 4. Understand the different type of mining tenements, applications thereof 5. Discuss the different forms of forfeiture and cancellation of tenements in the different mining jurisdictions
