Syllabus: | Introduction to the character of the development control process, to understand its role in the broader planning process, and to develop the necessary skills to apply development assessment to a range of typical development proposals to produce 'quality'development outcomes. |

Unit Outcomes: | Upon completion of this unit students will have developed an understanding of the character of the development control process and its role in the broader planning process and will have developed the necessary skills to apply development assessment to a range of typical development proposals to produce 'quality' development outcomes. Developed knowledge of planning systems and development control, the legal basis of development control, and referral roles and responsibilities, (roads, water, environment,etc). Developed knowledge of development control procedures, and the politics of development control. Gained knowledge in development processes in relation to subdivision, residential, retail and industrial and office developments, heritage issues and rural development. Developed an understanding of the future of development control. |
