Syllabus:

Reinforces and extends academic writing skills, through the transition of thinking in the first language to thinking in English. Ongoing progress in command over language structure, lexis and text organisation through class work, and computer literacy skills for online submission and retrieval of work.
 

Unit Outcomes:

Upon completion of this unit the student will be able to - write proficient argumentative essays, research appropriate topics and write an extended essay demonstrating - critical and original thinking, in-text and end-of-text referencing skills, quotation skills. Effectively use tools such as brainstorming and planning. Demonstrate independent learning skills at a level appropriate to tertiary education. Develop communication skills both verbal and written in English. Use the computer to submit and retrieve assignments.
