Syllabus:

Clinical problem solving, pathophysiology, current therapeutic modalities, synthesis of advanced practice in medical surgical nursing and evidence based nursing practice.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On succesful completion of this unit students will be able to - Apply a problem solving approach to the nursing care of individuals within an acute medical or surgical clinical setting. Describe the pathophysiology and collaborative interventions appliedto acute medical or surgical patients. Identify common laboratory and diagnostic tests appropriate for acute medical or surgical patients. Demonstrate synthesis of advanced clinical principles of nursing care for patients with complex medical and surgical problems. Use an evidence base practice approach to their nursing practice.
