Syllabus:

A concise overview of the critical aspects such as - design from street furniture to small open public spaces, the basic technical issues concerning horticulture, water features and public art. The rules and regulations - government, council, health and safety that impacts on public space design.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit, students will have - An overview of public space design from street furniture to small open spaces. An awareness of the basic technical issues concerning horticulture, water features and public art. An overview of some of the rules and regulations - government, council, health and safety that impact on public space design. Followed the process of project development that is - research, analysis, ideation, design development, production, communication and evaluation as the underlying basis for the practice of design. Further understood the aesthetic and technical issues of design. Developed an open-minded and critical thinking approach to design ideation and development. Applied problem-solving skills to design. Had the opportunity to foster independent learning skills. Developed further skills to communicate design solutions through verbal, two and three-dimensional methods.
