Syllabus: | Reflective practice, cultural perspectives of women's health, client, community education, counselling, and advocacy. Breast and cervical cancer, family planning, sexual health, maternal health. Physiological and psychological changes associated with pregnancy, postpartum, teenage pregnancy and menopause. Women's health screening, assessments and investigations, breast examination, Papanicolaou smears and interpretation of laboratory reports. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will have- Identifed and analysed contributing factors that impact on women's health across the lifespan. Analysed epidemiological, causative, lifestyle factors that contribute to women's health and illness.Demonstrated clinical competence in client assessment, breast examination, Papanicolaou smears and interpretation of laboratory reports. Competently assessed physiological and psychological changes in women across the lifespan and consulted, treated, referred or arranged evacuation of the client as required. Implemented culturally appropriate women's health education programs based on identified community needs. |
