Syllabus: | Psychotic disorders, anxiety disorders, therapeutic interventions for mental illness across the life span. Psycho-social, political, environmental, economic effects on mental health and illness of clients, families. Client screening, assessment, management, consultation, referral and evacuation. State Acts of parliament, regulations pertinent to nursing mental health clients. Substance use and mental health, stress management and personal safety. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will have - Utilised epidemiological and research data to compare local, state and national mental health and mental illness across the life span. Evaluated different models, approaches to the management of mental health problems in an isolated practice setting. Conducted an independent, comprehensive mental health assessment. Consulted with the client, family and other members of the health team, formulated and implemented an appropriate plan of care for mental health clients in isolated practice settings. Demonstrated management of issues of personal safety and health in an isolated practice setting. |
