Syllabus:

The importance of organising ideas, and planning before writing - proof reading and the mechanics of writing. Development of individual writing skills and confidence in a variety of academic genres -descriptive, advantages and disadvantages, and cause and effect with in text referencing - working through the transition of thinking in their first language to thinking in English.
 

Unit Outcomes:

Upon completion of this course the student will be able to- demonstrate a command in writing skills required at tertiary level. Write a proficient variety of academic essays. Develop communication skills, both verbal and written in English. Demonstrate independent learning skills. Use the computer to submit and retrieve assignments.
