Syllabus:

Introduction to the process of population change - determinants of population change at a community level, population pyramids, Australian Bureau of Statistics data sources and their use, some common methods of analysing socio-economic-demographic data, construction of community profiles, assessment of community needs, and relationship between community needs and its socio-economic-demographic profile.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On completion of this unit a student should have an elementary knowledge about the processes of a population change at a community level. Skills in extracting information from various sources to construct a community profile for a sub-group of a population. Knowledge about what should constitute a profile in relation to the practice focus. How to investigate community. Skills in developing resource file.
