Syllabus:

Future prospects and directions in community development. Community development in a globalised world, linking the local and the global in practice. Community development and 'globalisation from below'. Community development and human rights. Community development and social movements. Rethinking community in a globalised world.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit, students will have- The ability to apply concepts discussed in previous units to practice in a globalising world. Understood and critiqued the literature about globalisation and localisation. Developed practice approaches to apply the local/global analysis in specific contexts. Critically evaluated attempts of the contemporary communitarian movement to 'restore traditional community'.
