Syllabus: | The relationship between universal design principles and policy and legislation of human service models. Impact of universal design on human service models. Building inclusive communities through adaptation to overcome sensory, physical, mental and cognitive challenges of disability and ageing. |

Unit Outcomes: | Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to - Apply principles of universal design to the creation of inclusive environments. Analyse the relationship between legislation and policy and the design and development of human environments in a given context. Identify ethical issues raised in meeting the environmental needs of people experiencing disability or age related changes. Analyse models of inclusive community and apply the principles of universal design to overcome barriers of disability and/or ageing. |
