Syllabus: | The exploration of the language of garment through the examination of traditional dress and its impact on contemporary fashion culture. Students will be required to question preconceived notions of the relationship between body, cloth and garment and to explore the conceptual aspect of this relationship. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Demonstrated an understanding of the language and semiotics of garment. The ability to explore and manipulate the relationship between body, cloth and garment. An understanding of the principles and practice of independent research. Demonstrated effective communication of design solutions through verbal, two and three-dimensional visual methods. Further developed their understanding of the impact of technology on the aesthetics of design. Demonstrated a creative approach to the use of skills and technology applied to the practice of fashion and textile design. |
