Syllabus:

Principles of mine management - organisational structures, corporate planning and budget development, leadership and control, total quality management, management information systems. Industrial relations. Module B - Major risk in mines and management ofmine safety. Mine regulations in WA and other States. Enforcement of the regulations and mines inspectorate. Mines rescue, theory and practice. Professional ethics.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On completion of this unit students will have - Gained an understanding of the hisorical and present day context and requirements for managing a mine in safe, sustainable, productive and profitable manner.

Unit Assessment Breakdown:

Excercises/Assignments 50%, Final Exam 50%. This is by grade/mark assessment. The student must obtain an overall mark of at least 50% to pass this unit.
