Syllabus:

Project Planning. Ecological and Environmental Considerations. Flood Studies. Selection of Type of Water Resource structure. Foundation and Construction material. Earth and Rockfill Dams. Concrete gravity dams. Spillway and outlet structures. Geotechnical Instrumentations. Surveillance and Monitoring programs. Emergency Preparedness plans.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of the course students will have a thorough appreciation of applied hydrological computational techniques related to design of water resource structures. This course will also introduce the student to the design and maintenance of water resource structure.
