Syllabus:

First semester of a two semester course which will review the principles seismic methods for characterising oil and gas reservoirs. The aim of the reservoir characterisation is to understand interwell heterogenics so that hydrocarbon recovery can be improved. In this context improved means increased recovery at current oil and gas prices, rather than enhanced recovery which indicates greatly increased prices and the use of floods, surfactants and so on.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit, students will have- A sound knowledge of the new sub area of applied and theoretical reservoir geophysics.
