Syllabus:

Material properties and characterisation. Materials processing techniques. Advanced polymers. Advanced ceramics. Developments in traditional materials. Materials for specific applications.
 

Unit Outcomes:

An appreciation of the new advanced engineering materials. Chemistry of materials formation. Factors in production and chemical processing. Special material properties and advantages. Particular applications and uses of new materials. Future developments.
