Syllabus:

Non-linear equations in many variables. Romberg integration. Improper integrals. Introduction to partial differential equations. Systems of differential equations - Runge-Kutta, Predictor-corrector methods. Stability and stiffness, linear, non-linear andSecond Order differential equations. Minimax polynomial approximation. Rational approximation. Splines and B-splines.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On completion, students will have been exposed to some numerical integration techniques, and the numerical solution of nonlinear algebraic equations as well as differential equations.
