Syllabus:

Open-hole wireline logs and interpretation, cased hole logs and interpretation, measurement while drilling, coring and conventional core analysis, and special core analysis.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On completion of this unit students will have - A thorough grounding in rock and fluid properties and the use of special core analyses to describe reservoir fluid behaviour in porous media during production. Knowledge of the techniques for upscaling datafrom a micro core plug to a macro reservoir simulation model. Had training in the use of modern well logs, fluid sampling and formation pressure measurement tools, and in the interpretation of the data obtained to quantify the types of fluids present in the formation , their respective saturations and rock properties.
