Syllabus:

Review of the conventional mine planning process. Areas of risk at each stage in the process. Review of probability and statistics. Practical computational techniques, including conditional simulation. Reconciliation. Conditional simulation. Resource risk. Geotechnical reliability and minimising excavation costs. Reserve reliability. Schedule reliability. Cut-off grade and stockpile optimisation. Grade control risk. Decision making tools.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On completion of this unit students will have- Applied the elements of probability to mine planning and design. Understood and performed system reliability analysis. Understood and designed for mining risks. Performed quantitative and semi - quantitativerisk assessments to mining engineering designs.
