Syllabus:

Basics of distributed computing. Coordinated and uncoordinated processes. Control and introduction of concurrency in a distributed system. Combination of concurrency control and resilience in distributed systems. Fault-tolerant issues. Distributed and cooperative work, CORBA.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On completion of this unit students will have an understanding of the aims and methods of distributed computing, experience at applying UML to design distributed programs, detailed experience of CORBA, and detailed knowledge of components.
