Syllabus:

A special topic unit in Asian area studies with a syllabus chosen by a staff member on the basis of its compatibility with the general nature of the Asian studies course.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On completion of this unit students will have - Identified the major developments that have occurred in Indonesia in recent years. Understood the importance of those developments in their cultural and historical context. Summarised the major English language academic texts in Indonesian Studies. Critically evaluated these texts. Presented a summary of the debates on a particular aspect of Indonesian Society and provided an evaluation of their accuracy. Conveyed both orally and in written form an opinion on controversial topics. Formulated a written argument based on the topics covered throughout the semester.
