Syllabus:

Research methods in area of specialisation, generation of ideas for research projects, the research process, literature review, identification of a workable research question, formulation of hypotheses, guiding questions and objectives, measurement validity and reliability, experimental control, identification of ethical issues, data management and quality control, oral and written preparation and presentation of research proposal.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On completion of this unit the student will be able to evaluate - evidence based practice related to physiotherapy issues, statistical procedures related to research project. Develop computer competencies using the relevant statistical packages. Evaluateethical issues and apply these issues to the specific research proposal, discuss research methodologies in specific areas of physiotherapy, critically review the literature relating to the research question and research methodology, formulate aims, objectives and hypotheses/guiding questions related to the specific research project, examine commonly used assessment tools and procedures, including their reliability and validity, write and present a specific research proposal.
