Syllabus:

The idea of the future. How conceptions of the future emerged and were made significant. What 'futures' tell us about the past and present. Is the future the same as the past? The connections between modernity, technology and the future. Topics will include - utopias, technology, science fiction, prediction, popular cultural representations, selling the future, plus a major research paper.
