Syllabus:

Examination of the principles and theories that lie behind policy planning by government agencies and the voluntary sector. The process of policy planning and the role of issues, objectives, indicators, policies and action plans. Techniques for policy planning and the interface between the elected political representatives and appointed technical offices.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit, students will have an understanding of the principles of the formulation, evaluation and implementation of urban and regional planning policy. An appreciation of policy planning in the spheres of Commonwealth, Stateand Local Government. Reviewed and analysed policies to identify those relevant for land use planning. Demonstrated an understanding of a planning policy statement for a nominated sphere of influence.
