Syllabus: | An historical study of the conditions and influences leading to the development of specialised interiors. Examination of a selection of publicly utilised spaces - retail complexes, commercial interiors, public entertainment and leisure centres, hospitality venues, health facilities and prisons. The dynamics of contemporary interior design. The history and development of interior design as a profession. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit, students will have- The ability to identify the social, economic, technological and political factors influencing the design of interiors. The ability to undertake theoretical research to determine the characteristics which shape specialised interiors. Furthered developed writing skills in order to support all aspects of design communication. |
