Syllabus:

Examination of the history of research on instruments for assessing classroom climate, past research and practical applications involving classroom climate assessments, combining qualitative and quantitative methods, links between classroom and other environments, and new directions in classroom climate research.
 

Unit Outcomes:

The aim of the unit is to provide an advanced level of understanding of the conceptualisation, historical development, assessment, determinants and effects of classroom climates learning environments. The required outcomes for this unit are describe the history of learning environment research; within a given educational context critically report on learning environment research; students will be able to review, utilise and design instruments for use in learning environment research; using recent research on learning environments describe the use of qualitative and quantitative research methods; given a specific learning environment, plan, conduct and report a research study involving perceptions of that learning environment.
