Syllabus:

Fourier Series and coefficients. Noise. Modulation transfer function, system contributions to MTF, the Wiener spectrum. Quality control in radiography - strategy, collimator, focal spot size, focal spot effects, beam quality, Wisconsin cassette, exposure time, NERO, automatic exposure cutoff. Tomography. Image Intensifiers. Visual perception. Physical optics. Image Viewing. Computed tomography. Nuclear Medicine. Ultrasound. MRI. Digital Imaging stream.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit students will have gained knowledge of principles used in medical imaging and how to apply the ideas of information theory in optics in medical imaging.
