Syllabus:

Decision support systems (DSS) including modelling (financial, statistical, forecasting, simulation, decision), data management (warehousing and mining), interfaces and presentation (tables, charts, multidimensionality). Development, implementation and evaluation of DSS. Executive information and executive support systems. Collaborative systems and groupware. Expert systems, knowledge management and intelligent agents. Use of contemporary DSS software. Other contemporary DSS topics.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On completion of this unit students will have - Developed a small decision support systems using contemporary software. The ability to match different types of decision support to different types of users and contexts. Understood the strengths and weaknesses of the different types of models available for decision support and the role of knowledge based intelligent systems in augmenting decision support.
