Syllabus:

The formulation, undertaking and final reporting of an original research project. The topic and methodology must be approved in consultation with the course coordinator. The research must be in the area of mining geomechanics. Dissertations are supervised by academic staff, external supervisor or both, depending on the nature of the design project and can be done off campus.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Developed and presented research work agreed upon in consultation with the course coordinator. The work must be geotechnical in nature and preferably based on a situation from the mining industry. work is supervised by academic staff, external supervisor or both, depending on the nature of the project and can be done off campus.
