Syllabus:

Workshop on computer aided design in geotechnical engineering. Hands on experience with the program FLAC-2D nonlinear explicit finite difference, and on program UDEC-2D distinct element.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On completion of this unit students will have - Become aware of advanced techniques in numerical modelling available to the mining engineer.

Unit Assessment Breakdown:

Continuous assessment 50%, Examination 50%. This is by grade/mark assessment.
