Syllabus:

Editing, sub-editing, layout and graphic manipulation skills under the direction of the Editor, Production Editor and other senior staff of the Perth Independent. Includes coordination of student reporters and photographers in rounds. Weekend and night work may be required to meet publication deadlines.
 

Unit Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of this unit, students will have- Proficiency in copy-editing, picture cropping, headline writing and newspaper design and layout. A high standard of English usage. An understanding of the values that underpin editorial decision making and the power of presentation.
