Syllabus:

Southern Africa in the 20th century. Boer War. Establishment of the Union. Development of formal systems of apartheid. Assumption of political control by the Afrikaner population. Effects of apartheid on the social, economic and political life and structures of the Republic. South Africa's relationships with its region. Colonial period to the present day. Destabilisation. Relationship between domestic and foreign policy formation.
