Syllabus: | Recognition and significance of wallrock alteration. Ore deposits suites and genetic models for porphyry Cu-Mo deposits, epithermal Au-Ag deposits, volcanic hosted Cu-Zn-Pb deposits and orogneic Au deposits. Deformation of sulphides. Metallogeny and plate tectonics. Geology and evaluation of coal and oil shale. Introductory petroleum geology. Exploration for fossil fuels. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit, students will have a comprehensive understanding of the content of the syllabus sufficient to complete all practical work and assignments to the satisfaction of the unit coordinator and to achieve a pass mark in anytheory examination based on the subject matter. |
