Syllabus:Methods of sampling water and food. The health hazards of camping and recreational areas. Health problems associated with foods and food preparation areas. The inspection of dwellings and commercial lodging establishments. Inspection procedures and the maintenance of records and report writing. Application of relevant codes of practice, recommendations and legislation. Public relations and the investigation of nuisances and complaints. Inspection and registration of offensive trades. Documentation and service of work orders and examination of relevant statutes. Local authority management and structure.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will be able to - Demonstrate an application of the knowledge and skills gained in Environmental Health units completed to date. Show an understanding of professional attitudes and skills of the environmental health officers in Authorities.
