Syllabus:Musculoskeletal structure of the body wall and head and neck regions, with reference to basic development, innervation, vascular supply and drainage. Including vertebral column, respiratory and pelvic diaphragms, thoracic and abdomino-pelvic contents with an emphasis on functional morphology and relationships. Planes and surface landmarks of the body wall.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will have - Described the structure and explained the function of skeletal, articular and muscular components of the body wall and vertebral column. Described the placement and attachment of muscular components of the vertebral column and therefore explained their actions. Described the structure, function and relationships of visceral contained in thoracic and abdominopelvic cavities. Described the arrangement of structures involved in the blood and nerve supply, and the venous and lymphatic drainage of the thoracic and abdominal cavities, the body wall and the vertebral column. Recognised the above-mentioned structures on human cadaver specimens. Related surface landmarks of the thorax, abdomen and vertebral column to underlying structures.
