Syllabus:Appropriate aims and purposes. Learning experiences to fit those aims. Organising and structuring of these experiences. Media and strategies which might be used. Evaluation of the effectiveness of the experiences. Each will be examined in relation to the needs of pupils with different abilities, backgrounds, interests and enthusiasms.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit students will have- Demonstrated understanding of the place of teaching and learning languages at the upper secondary schools level in the Australian context. Developed programmes or work or course outlines in the four macro-skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing, based on appropriate content and subject matter from upper school syllabus. Displayed an awareness of the balance of the four macro-skills for the various levels of learners and developed appropriate programmes of work. Appraised existing resources, devised their own resources and adapted authentic and other materials to facilitate student learning. Understood the role of the Curriculum Council of Western Australia in Year 11 and 12 courses. Designed and implemented an assessment plan and developed assessment tasks to measure a variety of objectives. Become aware of language networks, support services and Curriculum Council guidelines for syllabus implementation and evaluation. Applied their knowledge of their specific LOTE to all the above areas.
